Two Orange Picked in NLL Draft

For the seventh-straight season, at least one Syracuse player has been selected in the National Lacrosse League draft, and for the third year in a row, the Orange came away with multiple selections.

Jerry Staats (San Diego) and Owen Seebold (Panther City) were the two Orange draftees in Saturday's NLL draft, bringing the 'Cuse total to 33 players drafted into the NLL since the league's inception.

Staats was taken 47th overall (third round) by the San Diego Seals. He appeared in 11 games last year for the Orange on defense, predominantly on the man-down unit.

Seebold was taken with the 63rd pick (fifth round) by the Panther City Lacrosse Club, which is based out of his home state in Texas. The Orange senior emerged into the starting attack line midway through the 2020 season. He scored 18 goals and dished out eight assists on the season as a whole, but was extremely productive in his four starts, scoring 10 goals and picking up four assists in the outings.

The 2021-22 'Cuse squad begins team activities this coming week.
