Orange Lose ACC Opener At Notre Dame, 4-0

Notre Dame (7-1-1, 1-0) used a relentless offensive attack to defeat Syracuse (4-3-1, 0-1), 4-0, in South Bend, Ind. on Saturday night.
The Irish had a 27-1 advantage in shots, which included 13 kicks on goal, in beating the Orange.
NOTRE DAME STRIKES EARLY
The hosts got on the board first. Katie Coyle's pass found Sammi Fisher and Fisher managed to sneak her shot in off the post just 6:38 into the contest. The goal was Fisher's seventh of the campaign.
Notre Dame added to its first-half total when Kiki Van Zanten received a pass from Audrey Weiss and scored.
GRANT THREATENS FOR SYRACUSE
Freshman Kylen Grant had Syracuse's best chance in the first half. Her drive went off the Fighting Irish crossbar and kept the Orange scoreless.
IRISH EXTEND ADVANTAGE AFTER THE INTERMISSION
Notre Dame was able to build its lead after the halftime break. Coyle scored at 59:58 to put the Irish ahead 3-0. Sophia Fisher added another tally at 70:32 to provide the hosts with a 4-0 margin.
PROULX MOVES UP 'CUSE CAREER SAVES LEDGER
Lysianne Proulx made nine saves on the evening and moved into fifth on Syracuse's career save list. Proulx, who advanced past Katie Karlander (209), now has 214.
