SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Four Syracuse starters posted double digit points to lead Syracuse past Pittsburgh, 77-61, on Tuesday night at the Dome. The Orange improved their record to 8-8 overall and 2-2 in the ACC while the Panthers fell to 6-10, 1-4.
Buddy Boeheim topped the Orange offense with a game-high 24 points, marking his eighth game this season he tallied 20-or-more. Jimmy Boeheim contributed 18 points on the night, Jesse Edwards notched 12 points and Cole Swider finished with 10.
Panthers forward Mouhamadou Gueye posted a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Jimmy Boeheim's rebound basket at the end of the first half sent the Orange into the break with a 35-34 advantage. Syracuse charged out of the intermission with a 16-3 run, keyed by six points from Jimmy Boeheim, and the Orange did not trail again.

Jimmy Boeheim continued his remarkable run of posting Syracuse's first points. His basket marked the 12th time in 16 outings he opened things for the Orange. Buddy Boeheim hit three consecutive 3-pointers midway through the first half and the Syracuse margin reached eight at one point, 19-11.Â

Femi Odukale led a Panthers' rally with eight of his clubs points in a 13-0 run. The result was a 32-25 Pittsburgh advantage with 3:51 remaining in the half. The Orange responded by scoring 10 of the last 12 points of the period, including four from Joseph Girard III.Â

Syracuse opened the second half strong with a 16-point drive answered by only three Pittsburgh points. Jimmy Boeheim led the charge scoring five points. Girard III and Buddy Boeheim contributed four each and Syracuse extended its advantage to 51-37Â with 13:49 remaining in the game.
The lead reached as many as 20 points, 65-45, before Syracuse closed out the contest.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
The Orange host the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 3:00 p.m. for the second game in the series this season. Syracuse won the previous encounter on Dec. 4, 63-60.
