Syracuse (9-10 overall, 3-5 ACC) rounds out its season series against Pittsburgh (7-12 overall, 2-6 ACC) on Tuesday, Jan. 25. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in Petersen Events Center and will be televised on ACC Network.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange were done in by #6/5 Duke, 79-59, thanks in part to 14 3-pointers from the Blue Devils, on Saturday.
The matchup featured Syracuse's Jim Boeheim and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, the two winningest coaches in NCAA Division I history. The Hall-of-Fame duo represented a combined 2,175 wins prior to tipoff, setting a standard for combined coaches' triumphs in a Division I game. Krzyzewski has announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2021-22 season.
THE SYRACUSE-PITTSBURGH SERIES
Pittsburgh is Syracuse's third most-familiar rival in its history. The Orange look to add their 75th win when two teams meet for the 122nd time on Tuesday. The most recent game resulted in a 77-61, Syracuse victory on Jan. 11 2022 in the Dome.Â

Buddy Boeheim leads the Orange in scoring average (18.6 ppg.) and ranks fourth among ACC players.. He is 22nd on Syracuse's career scoring ledger with 1,505 points. just behind current Associate Head Coach Adrian Autry (1,538 points)
Jimmy Boeheim heads into the Pitt encounter second in scoring average (14.1 ppg.) and third in rebounds per game (6.2 rpg.) among the Orange. He has scored in double digits in a squad-leading 16-of-19 contests this winter.
Joseph Girard III leads the ACC and ranks 29th nationally in 3-point field goal percentage (.430). He is second in the ACCÂ in 3-point field goal average (2.74)
PANTHERS LEADER
Sophomore forward John Hughley leads the Pittsburgh offense in scoring (15.8 ppg.) and rebounding average (8.1). The last time Hughley was held to single digit points in a game was in the most recent pairing with the Orange.
