Hall of Fame Coach Jim Boeheim and seniors Joseph Girard III and Jesse Edwards represented Syracuse at ACC Tipoff on Wednesday in Charlotte.
The Orange trio participated in a full schedule of media interviews, photo and video shoots, and basketball signings, along with representatives from the other 14 teams in the ACC.
Boeheim, the winningest active coach in the Division I ranks (998-426), is in his 47th season at the helm of his alma mater. The retirements of Hall-of-Fame members Mike Krzyzewski (Duke) and Roy Williams (Virginia) have advanced Boeheim up the ACC Coaches longevity list. Boeheim has logged nine ACC seasons, good for a fourth-place tie among conference mentors. Florida State's Leonard Hamilton (20) leads the group, followed by Virginia's Tony Bennett (13) and Clemson's Brad Brownell (12). Boeheim shares the fourth spot with Notre Dame's Mike Brey (nine) and Miami's Jim Larranaga (nine).
Girard enters his fourh year with the Orange having already surpassed 1,000 career points. He's started 91 of 93 games and accumulated 1,126 points in his Syracuse tenure.
Edwards is coming off his most productive college season. He was averaging 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds before an injury ended his campaign 24 contests in.
The ACC plans to announce the Preseason All-ACC honors and the predicted order of team finish on Tuesday, October 19.
