After a historic start, Syracuse head coach Dino Babers is on the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award Watch List.
Babers is 1-of-25 coaches up for the honor, which is presented annually to a college football coach for contributions that make the sport better for athletes and fans alike by demonstrating grit, intensity and a winning approach to coaching and life both on and off the field.
Babers has the Orange off to its best start since 1987 at 6-0 and the first 2-0 start in league play since 'Cuse joined the ACC. The Orange's balanced offensive attack and a top-10 defense in the FBS have led the squad to a No. 14 national ranking.
The American Heart Association and the Bryant family present the award annually to celebrate Bear Bryant's legacy and raise awareness and critical funds for scientific research of cardiovascular disease.
The award winner will be announced in Houston on January 11.
