Syracuse (8-5-0, 1-4-0) was unable to overcome an early goal from host Boston College (5-5-3, 1-4-0) and the Eagles held off the Orange, 1-0, in Newton, Mass. on Thursday evening.
Boston College remained unbeaten in home matches versus Syracuse, improving its overall record to 9-0-2 in games played on the Eagles' home field.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
The Eagles took advantage of the best opportunity they had in scoring the only goal of the contest. Syracuse goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch was unable to secure the ball in front of the Orange goal and Claire Mensi directed it into the back of the net. The tally, 24:07 into the contest, ended up as the only goal of the night.

Syracuse threatened multiple times in the second half. Graduate senior Chelsea Domond had a clear shot attempt at 52:18 and added a drive in the final minute of play. Freshman Gianna Savella, who played 25 minutes off the bench, fired just above the cross bar at 66:33.

Syracuse faces its third consecutive ACC road game on Sunday, Oct. 9, when the Orange play at #2 Virginia. The game is at 2:00 p.m. and will be live streamed on ACC Network Extra.
