Syracuse (8-5-0, 1-4-0) faces its third ranked foe of the campaign when it plays at #2 Virginia (10-2-1, 3-2) on Sunday, Oct. 9.

The Syracuse-Virginia Series:
Virginia has won all previous seven meetings with Syracuse. The two programs first met on Aug. 25, 2006, and the Cavaliers emerged with a 6-0 triumph.
The most recent encounter was a year ago at Syracuse in a match Virginia won, 5-0.
Syracuse Status:
Syracuse is up against its third ranked foe of the fall when it plays Virginia. The Orange had back-to-back, 1-0 losses to #3 Duke and #3 North Carolina in mid-September. Syracuse is 0-8-1 all-time against the nation's second-ranked club.
The Orange hope to reignite their offense on Sunday. Syracuse has been shutout in four of its last five games.
Virginia Status:
The Cavaliers come into the contest ranked second in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. Since that rating came out, Virginia was defeated by #3 Florida State, 1-0. The Cavs bested then-#4 Duke last Sunday, 1-0.
Grad student Haley Hopkins ranks second among ACC performers with eight goals. Sophomore Cayla White leads the ACC in save percentage (.868) and ranks second in goals against average (0.46). She has started 11 of Virginia's 13 matches.
