Syracuse (6-4, 3-3 ACC) lost to #25 Florida State (7-3, 5-3 ACC), 38-3, inside the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday night, in what was the final home game of the 2022 season.

The Orange offense struggled to get things going for much of the game. Florida State out-gained 'Cuse 420 to 160 in the loss.

Sean Tucker rushed for 52 yards on 14 attempts in the game and moved past Larry Csonka (1965-67), taking over fourth place on the all-time career rushing list with 2,951 career rushing yards. Quarterback Garrett Shrader completed 6-of-16 passes in the throwing game, accounting for 65 yards through the air. On the defensive side of the ball, Jason Simmons led 'Cuse with nine tackles, six of which were solo.

FSU quarterback Jordan Travis led the visitors with 155 yards (21-for-23) and three touchdowns. The Seminoles had five different athletes score a touchdown.

Florida State punched in the first score of the evening with 10:07 left to play in the first quarter. The Seminoles utilized an eight-play, 72-yard drive, which was capped off with a rushing touchdown up the middle by Travis. FSU made it a 14-0 ballgame with 2:26 left to play in the first frame. Jordan connected with Malik McClain on a 15-yard touchdown pass to take a two-possession lead.

The Orange responded with what would become their longest drive of the contest, a 63-yard, eight-play run, which was capped off by Andre Szmyt. The kicker knocked a 30-yard field goal through the uprights just two and a half minutes into the second quarter, putting SU's first and only points of the night on the board.

Florida State extended its lead further with 5:47 left before the break with a 25-yard reception in the end zone, putting FSU up, 21-3. Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald converted on a 40-yard field goal attempt to give the 'Noles a 24-3 lead at halftime

The Seminoles tacked on two additional touchdowns in the third quarter and went on to a 38-3 victory. First, Travis connected with Kentron Poitier from five yards out on the opening Seminoles possession of the half. Then, Travis caught a touchdown pass of his own on a trick play that Wyatt Rector threw on a fourth-down play near the goal line with 5:21 left in the third that gave the final result.

Syracuse will vacate the JMA Dome for its final two regular season games. First, the team heads to Wake Forest on Nov. 19 for another prime time game. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. on ACC Network.
