ORANGE BACK ON THE ROAD TO FACE WAKE FOREST
• Syracuse will play its final two games of the regular season on the road, starting Saturday at Wake Forest. It marks the Orange's first trip to Wake Forest since 2018.
• The game will air on ACC Network with Dave O'Brien '86 (PxP), Tim Hasselbeck (analyst) and Kelsey Riggs (reporter) on the call. It marks the fifth game this season that a 'Cuse alum has been part of the broadcast team.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• RB Sean Tucker continues his climb on Syracuse's all-time rushing list. He enters Saturday's game with 2,951 career yards.
• He needs 153 yards to move past Delone Carter (2006-10) for third place.
• Tucker moved into fourth place on the all-time rushing list with his performance against Florida State, passing Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Hall of Fame inductee Larry Csonka (1965-67). Tucker is just the fifth player in program history to surpass 2,900 yards rushing.
SZMYT AMONG ACC SCORING LEADERS
• PK Andre Szmyt recorded his 433rd career point with a field goal against Florida State.Â
• He is now tied for fourth on the ACC all-time scoring list. Among kickers, Szmyt is tied for third. Florida State's Dustin Hopkins (2009-12) holds the ACC record for most points by a kicker with 466. NC State's Christopher Dunn is second with 463.
• Szmyt has 81 career field goals, which is third on the ACC record list behind Dunn's 89 and Hopkins' 88. In addition, Szmyt is 11th in conference history with 190 PATs.
THE MOB DELIVERS
• After seeing significant improvement on the defensive side of the ball in 2021, the Orange are continuing the trend this season.
• Syracuse is on pace to record some of its best defensive totals in more than 10 years.
• If the season ended today, the Orange would hold their opponents to their lowest per game total since 2010 (19.3).
• Syracuse is giving up 318.2 yards per game. That total would be its lowest since 2010 when the Orange gave up 301.5 yards per game.Â
SERIES HISTORY
• Syracuse and Wake Forest will meet for the 12th time when they take the field on Saturday. Two of the last three and three of the 11 contests have been decided in overtime.
• The Orange own an 6-5 advantage in the series. The teams will play in Winston-Salem for the first time since 2018 after playing three-straight years in the JMA Wireless Dome.Â
• Syracuse first met Wake Forest in 2006 in Winston-Salem before they met again in 2011 in the JMA Wireless Dome. The teams have met each year starting in 2013 when the Orange joined the ACC.
A WIN WOULD …Â
• Improve Dino Babers' record to 36-47 as head coach of the Orange.
• Improve Syracuse's road record to 2-2 this season.
• Give Syracuse its 748th all-time victory (includes 11 wins from 2004-06 that were vacated by the NCAA). The Orange currently rank 22nd on the FBS ledger of winningest programs. Syracuse is one of 32 FBS schools to have accumulated 700+ wins.
