Syracuse (2-1) heads to the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. to take on Richmond (2-2) in the Vividseats Empire Classic on Monday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the matchup will air live on ESPN2.

SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse enters the matchup with a 76-48 victory against Northeastern under its belt. The Orange utilized a 9-0 run to kick things off and held a lead that ballooned to as high as 31 points in the eventual victory.

Richmond is coming off a 56-53 loss to Wichita State. A Spiders' layup from Tyler Burton put Richmond within three but it wasn't enough to close the game out over the last six seconds of play.

THE SYRACUSE-RICHMOND SERIES
Syracuse holds a 3-1 lead in the series with Richmond that extends back to the 1990-91 season. The two squads haven't met on the hardwood since Nov. 18, 2008, when the Orange captured a 76-71 victory.

LAST TIME OUT
Season-high performances from senior guard Joseph Girard III (21) and senior center Jesse Edwards (19), along with an 18-point outing from freshman guard Judah Mintz, led the Orange to a win against Northeastern on Saturday.

ORANGE LEADERS
The backcourt duo of Girard and Mintz are both averaging 18.0 points per game after the first three contests. Edwards (15.7 ppg) leads the squad on the glass with 8.7 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Spiders are led by senior forward Tyler Burton (19.0 ppg. 8.5 rpg). In the loss to Wichita State, Burton topped his squad with a double-double (16 points-11 boards), and graduate forward Isaiah Bigelow added a 15-point outing.

'CUSE FANS CAN VOTE FOR GIRARD
Senior Joseph Girard III is one of 20 players named to the 2023 Jerry West Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I college basketball. Orange fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January, five in February, and the five finalists will be presented to Jerry West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected in March. BOEHEIM & PEARL TO JOIN RING OF HONOR
Jim Boeheim and Dwayne "Pearl" Washington -- two of the most prominent names in Syracuse men's basketball history -- will be formally recognized as members of the Syracuse University Athletics Ring of Honor in the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022. The ceremony will be held on the same day the Orange host Georgetown.
