
Orange Face First Road Test Monday at Penn State

The 4-0 Syracuse women's basketball team will face its first road test of the season Monday night when the Orange visit Penn State for a non-conference matchup at the Bryce Jordan Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on Big Ten Network Plus (BTN+).Â
Both teams enter Monday night's game 4-0 on the season. Syracuse is coming off an 85-63 win over Long Island last Thursday night at the Dome. Syracuse's backcourt of Dyaisha Fair (17.3 ppg) and Teisha Hyman (13.4 ppg) combing for 9.3 assists per game. Graduate center Dariauna Lewis leads the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in rebounds per game (12.0) and blocks per game (3.3). She's tallied three double doubles in her three appearances this season while averaging 14.7 points per game. Asia Strong is fourth on the team in scoring with 9.5 ppg and 6.0 rebounds per game.Â
The Orange are holding opponents to 56.5 ppg while scoring 82.0. Syracuse is shooting 45.1 percent from the field through its first four games of the Felisha Legette-Jack era.Â
Penn State remained unbeaten with a 96-33 Friday night win against Bryant. The Nittany Lions opened the season with a close win over Norfolk State, 67-61, but outscored its next three opponents (Fairfield, Youngstown State, Bryant) by an average of 35.0 ppg. Penn State is led by Makenna Marisa, who's scoring 19.0 points and adding 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. Two other Lions are averaging double figures in scoring, Leilani Kapinus (12.8 ppg) and Alexa Willaimson (11.0 ppg), while Kapinus also leads the team in rebounds (8.0).Â
Monday's game is the 20th meeting all-time between the two teams. PSU leads the all-time series 16-3 but the Orange have won two straight in the series. Last time they met, Syracuse earned a 10-point win, 82-72, at the Dome on Dec. 6, 2020.Â
