Syracuse (3-1) will face undefeated St. John's (5-0) at the Vividseats Empire Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Tuesday night. Tip-off is slated for 9:00 p.m. and the game will air live on ESPN2.

SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse returns to the Barclays Center after locking in a 74-71 overtime victory against Richmond last night. The win featured a career 31-point night from senior guard Joseph Girard III.

St. John's is coming off a 78-72 win versus Temple in the Vividseats Empire Classic. A trio of free throws at the line from Montez Mathin and Joel Soriano secured the win the in the final 17 seconds of action.

THE SYRACUSE-ST. JOHN'S SERIES
Syracuse holds a 51-40 record in the all-time series against St. John's, which extends back to the 1911-12 season. The Red Storm currently holds a three-game win streak against the Orange. In their last meeting on Dec. 15, 2013, St. John's took a slim, 68-63, triumph.

LAST TIME OUT
Four Oranges' recorded double-digit points in the victory versus the Spiders. In addition to Girard's career outing, freshman guard Judah Mintz logged 16, freshman forward Chris Bell punched in a personal-best 11 points, and senior center Jesse Edwards added 10 points.

ORANGE LEADERS
Girard leads Syracuse in scoring (21.3 ppg.), while Mintz (17.5) and Edwards (14.3) are also averaging above 10 points per contest. Edwards tops the Orange in rebound average (8.5 rpg.), and sophomore forward Benny Willams follows (5.3 rpg.)

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Red Storm are led by David Jones (17.0 ppg), while Soriano is currently averaging a double-double of 13.2 ppg and 11.2 rpg.

'CUSE FANS CAN VOTE FOR GIRARD
Senior Joseph Girard III is one of 20 players named to the 2023 Jerry West Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I college basketball. Orange fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January, five in February, and the five finalists will be presented to Jerry West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected in March. BOEHEIM & PEARL TO JOIN RING OF HONOR
Jim Boeheim and Dwayne "Pearl" Washington -- two of the most prominent names in Syracuse men's basketball history -- will be formally recognized as members of the Syracuse University Athletics Ring of Honor in the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022. The ceremony will be held on the same day the Orange host Georgetown.
