SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange own a four-game win streak after a 86-71 victory against Monmouth on Monday night. Syracuse utilized a stretch of eight unanswered points midway through the first frame to take the lead and controlled the contest the rest of the way.
The Big Red enter the contest following a 107-105 loss to Miami on Wednesday night. Cornell managed to recover from a 21-point deficit with a second-half comeback, but fell short against the Hurricanes.Â

The encounter on Saturday afternoon marks the 127th all-time meeting between the two squads. Syracuse holds a 95-31 advantage in the series which extends back to the 1900-01 season. The Orange are riding a 41-game win streak against the Big Red that began on Dec. 10, 1969.Â

Freshman guard Judah Mintz put up a personal-best 24 points and senior center Jesse Edwards (12 points, 11 rebounds) logged his fifth double-double of the season in the victory against Monmouth. Senior guard Joseph Girard III (16 points), sophomore forward Benny Williams (13), and freshman forward Maliq Brown (11) each recorded double-digit points in the win on Monday night.Â

Edwards currently leads the charge for the Orange, as the big man is averaging a double-double (15.3 ppg.-11.3 rpg.). Mintz (15.0 ppg) and Girard (14.8) join Edwards as the additional Orange currently averaging double-digit points.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Senior guard Greg Dolan (13.9 ppg) is one of three Big Red athletes averaging double-digit points and he leads Cornell in rebound average (4.6), as well. Sophomore guard Nazir Williams (11.7 ppg.) and guards Chris Manon (10.1 ppg.) represent two other top offensive threats for Cornell.
TEAM IMPACT, WEGMANS AND SYRACUSE ATHLETICS
On Saturday in the JMA Wireless Dome, Team Impact participants and their families will have a special pregame recognition on Jim Boeheim Court. Team Impact is a two-year program that pairs kids diagnosed with serious illnesses and disabilities with college athletic teams. Syracuse Athletics is currently engaged with the Team Impact program in seven sports, including men's basketball. Wegmans and Team Impact joined up earlier this month to give Team Impact teammates a dream day at Wegmans. They decorated holiday cookies with Otto and had a scavenger hunt in the store. 'CUSE FANS CAN VOTE FOR GIRARD
Senior Joseph Girard III is one of 20 players named to the 2023 Jerry West Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I college basketball. Orange fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January, five in February, and the five finalists will be presented to Jerry West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected in March. MCNAMARA AND WARRICK JERSEY RETIREMENT
Twenty years after playing a major role in Syracuse's first NCAA Basketball Championship, Gerry McNamara '06 and Hakim Warrick '05 will have their Orange jerseys hoisted to the Dome rafters. The jersey retirements will take place on Sunday, March 4 when Syracuse hosts Wake Forest at 5:00 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.

20TH ANNIVERSARY OF '03 CHAMPIONSHIP
Syracuse University Athletics will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the men's basketball program's 2003 NCAA Championship throughout the 2022-23 season, culminating with a reunion at the March 4 contest with Wake Forest. Members of the 2002-03 national title team have been invited to return to Syracuse for planned activities the weekend of March 3-5, 2023. The Orange are scheduled to host Wake Forest on Saturday, March 4, in the final regular-season contest of the campaign. Those from the 2002-03 squad who are able to return, will be recognized at the game.
