Syracuse (8-4, 1-0) returns to ACC action by hosting Pitt (8-4,1-0) inside the JMA Wireless Dome on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 9:00 p.m.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange were victorious in their non-conference finale, as the squad bested Cornell on Saturday afternoon, 78-63. SU took control after the break by scoring the first four points in the second half and never looked back. The victory expanded Syracuse's win streak to five games.

The Panthers locked in an 82-56 win against North Florida over the weekend. Sophomore center Frederiko Federiko sent the Panthers to victory with a season-high 22 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.

SYRACUSE-PITT SERIES
The Orange hold a 74-48 record in the all-time series versus the Panthers, which spans back to the 1913-1914 season. The most recent pairing on Jan. 25, 2022, resulted in a 64-53 loss to Pitt.

LAST TIME OUT
Five student-athletes recorded double-digits in the victory against the Big Red. Senior guard Joseph Girard III led the way with 19 points. Senior center Jesse Edwards notched his sixth double-double of the season by adding 11 points and 12 boards. The trio of freshman guard Judah Mintz (14 points), freshman forward Chris Bell (13), and sophomore forward Benny Williams (12) each topped 10-plus points.

ORANGE LEADERS
Girard leads all Syracuse scorers with an average of 15.2 points per game. Edwards averages a double-double with 14.9 ppg and 11.3 rebounds per contest. Mintz, one of the top scoring freshmen in the Division I ranks, is contributing 14.9 points per matchup.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Junior forward Blake Hinson (16.5 ppg) is one of four Panthers averaging double-figures and leads on the glass with 6.9 boards per game. Fellow junior forward Jamarius Burton follows Hinson by putting up 14.9 points per contest.

'CUSE FANS CAN VOTE FOR GIRARD
Senior Joseph Girard III is one of 20 players named to the 2023 Jerry West Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I college basketball. Orange fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January, five in February, and the five finalists will be presented to Jerry West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected in March. MCNAMARA AND WARRICK JERSEY RETIREMENT
Twenty years after playing a major role in Syracuse's first NCAA Basketball Championship, Gerry McNamara '06 and Hakim Warrick '05 will have their Orange jerseys hoisted to the Dome rafters. The jersey retirements will take place on Sunday, March 4 when Syracuse hosts Wake Forest at 5:00 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.

20TH ANNIVERSARY OF '03 CHAMPIONSHIP
Syracuse University Athletics will celebrate the 20^th Anniversary of the men's basketball program's 2003 NCAA Championship throughout the 2022-23 season, culminating with a reunion at the March 4 contest with Wake Forest. Members of the 2002-03 national title team have been invited to return to Syracuse for planned activities the weekend of March 3-5, 2023. The Orange are scheduled to host Wake Forest on Saturday, March 4, in the final regular-season contest of the campaign. Those from the 2002-03 squad who are able to return, will be recognized at the game.
