Syracuse men's soccer acclaimed attacking duo of senior forward Levonte Johnson and sophomore forward Nathan Opoku are United Soccer Coaches' All-Americans. Johnson checks in at All-America First Team, while Opoku earns All-America Third Team recognition. Both are All-Americans for the first time in their careers.Â
Johnson is the Orange's first All-America First Team selection since Miles Robinson in 2016. The veteran attacker joins Robinson, Alex Bono (2014), Bill Nelson (1952), John McEwan (1932) and Vincent Black (1932 & 1933) as the only first-team All-Americans in program history. Johnson and Opoku are the first Syracuse duo to earn All-America honors in the same season since Black and McEwan in 1932.Â
A native of Brampton, Ontario, Johnson has provided the Syracuse attack a spark since transferring from Seattle U in the spring of 2021. Johnson has started every match of Syracuse's run to the 2022 College Cup, scoring 10 goals and 26 points. Johnson is also a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, the highest individual award in college soccer. Johnson has also earned All-ACC First Team and All-South Region First Team honors.Â
Opoku, a native of Accra, Ghana, has established himself as an electrifying attacking talent from the moment he transferred from Lindsey Wilson College. Opoku has scored nine goals and 24 points this season, earning All-ACC First Team and All-South Region First Team honors in the process.Â
Opoku and Johnson look to lead Syracuse past Creighton in the NCAA College Cup Semifinal at 6 p.m. today.Â
