Orange Takes Down #24 UConn on the Road

STORRS, Conn. – Syracuse men's soccer earned a statement road victory Thursday night, defeating No. 24 UConn, 2-1, at Morrone Stadium.
The Orange opened the scoring in the 28th minute when sophomore newcomer Jordan Grey found the back of the net. Sachiel Ming provided the assist as Syracuse took a 1-0 lead. Syracuse added to its advantage just over three minutes later. In the 32nd minute, freshman Gabriel Oksanen fired a right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner, with Grey earning the assist to give the Orange a 2-0 cushion. UConn answered before halftime when Elijah Langford scored in the 45th minute, cutting Syracuse's lead to 2-1 heading into the break.
The Orange controlled the shot battle throughout the contest, finishing with 13 shots, including eight shots on goal. UConn recorded eight shots, with five finding the target.
Syracuse's defense stood strong in the second half, keeping the Huskies off the scoreboard and preserving the one-goal advantage to secure the road victory over the No. 24-ranked Huskies.
With the win, Syracuse earned a 2-1 victory over No. 24 UConn in a key road matchup.
The Orange are set to take on the University of New Hampshire at home at Syracuse Soccer Stadium on Sunday August 23 at 5 p.m.
