'Cuse faces co-No. 1s Maryland and Virginia in the next two matchups
Syracuse will play the nation's No. 1 team twice in the span of six days, as this weekend's opponent, Maryland, jumped into a tie with next week's opponent, Virginia, for the top spot in the USILA poll.
The Orange climbed into the top-10 in both the USILA Coaches Poll and Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, checking in at No. 9 in both.
Sunday's game against the Terps adds a top-10 matchup to what'll already be an exciting day for Syracuse lacrosse. Gary Gait and Katie Rowan will have their jerseys hung in the Dome rafters and legendary head coach Roy Simmons Jr. will be added to the Ring of Honor.
The Orange's schedule features a murderer's row of ranked opponents, beginning over the next two weeks with co-number ones Maryland and Virginia. In fact, every single team remaining on Syracuse's schedule is receiving votes or ranked in the USILA Poll. The Orange face the Cavaliers twice on the season. They'll also play No. 4 North Carolina, No. 5 Notre Dame (twice), No. 7 Duke, No. 12 Army, No. 13 Cornell, No. 15 Johns Hopkins, and Hobart, Albany and Stony Brook, who are each receiving votes.
