Another battle between two of the top five scoring brothers duos in college basketball is in the cards for Saturday, Feb. 19 when Syracuse (13-12 overall, 7-7 ACC) hosts Boston College (9-15 overall, 4-10 ACC). Tip time in the Carrier Dome is 12:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
Syracuse's Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim (32.3 ppg.) and Boston College's DeMarr and Makai Ashton-Langford (24.0 ppg.) rank second and fifth, respectively, among Division I brothers.
SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse's four-game win streak was snapped at Virginia Tech last Saturday when the Hokies defeated the Orange 71-59.Â
Boston College looks to bounce back from four straight ACC losses, including one to Syracuse on Feb. 8.Â
THE SYRACUSE-BOSTON COLLEGE SERIES
Saturday's contest will be the 81st meeting between the Orange and the Eagles. Syracuse leads the series 54-26, and has captured the last seven consecutive encounters. This game is the second in a two-game series this season. Syracuse defeated Boston College, 73-64, on Feb. 18 at Conte Forum.Â
NEW ORANGE STARTING LINEUP
For the first time all season, head coach Jim Boeheim used a different starting line on Feb. 12 at Virginia Tech. A season-ending injury to regular center Jesse Edwards thrust Frank Anselem into the first five for the first time in his career. Anselem produced a personal-best 15 boards, which represented the most by a Syracuse player this season.Â
Buddy Boeheim continues to produce offensively for the Orange.His 19.2 scoring average ranks second in the ACC and 40th overall. In the pairing with Virginia Tech, he scored in double digits for the 21st time this season and in his sixth consecutive game.Â
EAGLES STARTERSÂ
Despite their 99-95, overtime loss to Notre Dame on Wednesday, all five Eagles starters produced double-figure scoring, including DeMarr Langford, who finished with a team-leading 23 points. with a team high of 23 points and seven rebounds.Â
