
Orange Score in 5ks at ACCs

Syracuse picked up points in both 5ks and qualified multiple runners to tomorrow's finals at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Nathan Henderson put himself in All-ACC position and got in the scoring with a personal-best time of 13:48.36 in the 5000-meter run, taking sixth. Teammate JP Trojan wasn't far off, finishing in 13:55.29, and adding to the scoring tally.
Matthew Scrape finished in 15th, crossing the line in 14:12.51. He was the second-fastest runner in the earlier section of the race. Sam Lawler (14:49.67) and Jack Whetstone (15:21.91) also raced for 'Cuse.
Abigail Spiers turned in a new PR in the women's 5k, taking seventh overall to score for 'Cuse. She finished in 16:28.07. NC State's Katelyn Tuohy won the event. Ellie Lawler (17:12.33), Emily Lane (17:23.03) and Reilly Zink (17:27.73) also raced for the Orange.
Jaheem Hayles will also get in the scoring tomorrow after advancing to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. He qualified in 7.82 seconds. Anthony Vazquez (8.10) and Naseem Smith (8.11) were just outside qualifying in 11th and 12th, while Isaiah Lewis (8.16) and David Peters (8.18) were in 14th and 15th.
Kahniya James is advancing to the final in the 60-meter dash after she turned in a personal-best time of 7.39 seconds in Friday's prelims. Her time earned her a qualifying spot based on time. Teammate Kaleia Arrington also had a PR in a time of 7.84 seconds, which was 21st.
Trei Thorogood finished 12th in the men's 60-meter dash in a personal-best time of 6.80 seconds. He later turned in a PR in the 200-meter dash in 22.00 seconds, followed by a James Nmah PR in 22.33 seconds. The duo finished 20th and 26th, respectively.
Sage Brooks added a new PR to the mix as well, finishing the mile in 4:50.49 seconds, which earned her 17th.
Shaleah Colaire was one spot out of reaching the finals in the women's event, crossing the line in 8.42 seconds (0.01 seconds out of eighth).
Colaire (24.89) later finished 20th in the 200, with Janelle Pottinger for spots back in a season-best time of 25.17 seconds. Arrington followed her PR in the 60 with a personal-best time in the 200 as well (25.62 seconds).
Alexander Segarra finished the 800 in 1:56.39, which gave him 38th.
Action concludes Saturday with the finals for those who qualified today, plus the 3000-meter finals and 4x400-meter relays.
