Syracuse and Notre Dame Play for Mental Health Awareness
3/28/2022 4:51:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
When Syracuse travels to Notre Dame on Saturday, the game will be bigger than lacrosse as both teams have dedicated the game to Mental Health Awareness.
Both teams will be wearing shooting shirts with a mental health organization near to the program on it and selling the shirts. Syracuse's is in memory of star attackman Rob Kavovit, who passed away last spring and his family started the 15 For Life Foundation. Notre Dame's is in memory of Tommy O'Brien and the Tommy O'Brien Fund.
Notre Dame has setup an online store to sell the shirts. Proceeds from shirt sales will go to both organizations and can be purchased here: Mental Matters Apparel
The 15 For Life Foundation was inspired by one man with the goal of saving the lives of many. On March 16, 2021, Rob Kavovit took his own life while suffering from silent depression. The Kavovit Family funneled their grief into opening the dialogue around depression and mental matters. Their mission is to shed the shame around needing help and normalizing the conversation around mental health by creating awareness so that our loss may help others.
