ROME, Ga. -- Sophomore Ines Fonte won her singles match in straight sets in the No. 59 Orange's 4-1 loss to No. 24 Wake Forest in the second round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday, Apr. 21 in Rome, Georgia.

Syracuse (10-11) lost the doubles point as Wake Forest's No. 7 and No. 34 nationally-ranked duos defeated the Orange's No. 37 and No. 86 pairs.

Fonte took care of business out of the No. 6 singles position, earning her ninth victory of the season and her fifth straight in finished matches. The Demon Deacons (16-9) were too much for the Orange though, taking three singles matches to earn a 4-1 victory. Wake Forest will face No. 5 Duke in the quarterfinals.
