
Eight Qualify for NCAA East Prelims

Eight members of the Orange have qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round of the Track and Field Championships.
The meet is scheduled to begin next Wednesday in Bloomington, Indiana, with qualifiers from that meet punching their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon in June.
Annie Boos will run in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The ACC bronze medalist's run at last week's ACC Championships is the eighth-fastest in the east region to date this season. Kevin Robertson will race in the same event for the Syracuse men. The women's steeplechase is Wednesday, followed by the men on Thursday.
Another top competitor is Jaheem Hayles in the 110-meter hurdles, who has the 11th-best time in the east this season (13.57 seconds). Hayles was third at the ACC Championships last weekend. Hayles' prelim race will take place on Thursday as he looks to advance to Saturday's NCAA quarterfinal.
The Orange's deepest field will come in the 10k. The 'Cuse men have three people entered, including two of the top-15 seeds. Joe Dragon (13th) and JP Trojan (15th) are SU's top qualifiers, while Matthew Scrape is also entered. Â The
Abigail Spiers will race in the 5000-meter run. Spiers continues a strong season that saw her score in two events at the ACC Indoor Championships earlier this year. Spiers will race on Friday night at 7:55 p.m.
Nathan Henderson is entered in the men's 1500-meter run. He posted a qualifying time of 3:42.03 earlier this year, which is the 30th-best mark in the east this season. Henderson will be the first person on the Orange to race next week, starting at 4:46 p.m. on Wednesday.
