Orange Ready for 2022 IRA National Championship Regatta

The 2022 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Regatta is set to begin Friday morning at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. The Syracuse men's rowing team had four crews qualify for the national championship event including the varsity eight, 2V8, 3V8 and a varsity four consisting of 32 student-athletes and two alternates.Â
The IRA Regatta gets underway for the Orange on Friday with the Varsity Challenge Cup heats where the top two crews will advance directly to the AB semifinals and the remainder going to the afternoon repechages. No. 7 Syracuse will line up with No. 16 Penn, No. 9 Northeastern, No. 1 Cal, No. 17 Drexel and Santa Clara at 8:10 a.m.Â
The Orange 2V8 heat for the Kennedy Challenge Cup is set for 9:10 a.m. The Orange will face Oregon State, California and Boston University and Drexel with the top two teams advancing to the AB semifinals and the remainder racing in the afternoon reps.Â
The 3V8 will race in Heat 2 of the 3rd Varsity Eight division against Drexel, Yale, Harvard and the U.S. Naval Academy at 10:10 a.m. Similar to the other varsity eight races, the top two teams in the heat will advance to the AB semi with the other three teams competing in the afternoon reps.Â
The men's varsity four time trials begin at 11:20 a.m. with the top-18 crews advancing to the ABC semifinals and the remainder going to the DE semifinals in the afternoon session.
All races will be streamed live on the IRA Youtube Channel and fans can follow along with live results here. Fans can also download the IRA National Championship Timing App available in the App Store.Â
