Orange Earn Academic Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse tennis has been recognized for its work in the classroom. The Orange are among 250 women's tennis programs awarded All-Academic Team distinction by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the 2021-22 season. In addition, senior Sofya Treshcheva, junior Polina Kozyreva and freshman Shiori Ito were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

ITA All-Academic Team honorees must have a team grade-point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.00 scale. ITA Scholar-Athletes must record a 3.5 grade-point average or above for the academic year.

Treshcheva finished her Syracuse career with 70 victories, including 12 in 2021-22. She was one of four players to record double-digit wins in doubles this season. Treshcheva and doubles partner Ito were ranked as high as No. 45 in the ITA rankings.

Kozyreva recorded a career-high 22 wins during the spring season. She won nine straight singles matches in straight sets to open the spring campaign. Kozyreva paired with freshman Miyuka Kimoto to earn an invitation to the NCAA Doubles Championship. The duo ended the year ranked No. 18 in the ITA rankings.

Ito finished her rookie campaign with 31 victories. She advanced to the Northeast Super Regionals in both singles and doubles.
