Now in his seventh year with the Syracuse football program, Brad Wittke has been elevated to the Associate Athletic Director for Football Operations.
Wittke has a hand in nearly every aspect of the Syracuse football program. In addition to the day-to-day operations of the team, he is responsible for the program's budget management, capital projects, travel, meals and the team calendar, among other duties.
"Brad continues to be a crucial part of our program," said head coach Dino Babers. "This is a much deserved promotion for him. His work behind the scenes in all areas is what allows our team to operate efficiently."
Wittke has overseen the team's operations since January of 2016. In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, Wittke has been part of a number of initiatives in his time with the Orange. He serves as the football team's liaison with the architecture firm Gensler in the construction of the program's new facility in the John A. Lally Athletic Complex. Additionally, he played a large role in Syracuse's return to play protocols from COVID during the 2020 season. That year, Syracuse was one of the few teams in the nation to complete the entirety of its 11-game schedule without any cancellations or postponements.
 Â
"I want to thank Coach Babers and John Wildhack for this opportunity," Wittke said. "Syracuse University is a special place and I am excited to continue to support our student-athletes, coaches, and staff."
Additional highlights of Wittke's tenure include working closely with Nike on the team's uniform redesign in 2019 and overseeing upgrades made to the surfaces of the Ben Schwartzwalder and Maury Katz Practice Fields and spearheaded the redesign of multiple spaces utilized by Orange student-athletes and staff, including the player lounge, Ferguson Auditorium, parts of the Michael M. Bill '58 Locker Room, the weight room and the Ensley Athletic Center.Â
Wittke has worked with Coach Babers since 2015 at Bowling Green. He also spent three seasons in the front office of the Arena League's Pittsburgh Power and had prior collegiate athletics operations experience at both Eastern Illinois and Arizona State.
