It's back to J.S. Coyne Stadium for No. 10 Syracuse as the Orange play at home in back-to-back games for the first time this season. Syracuse opens ACC play on Friday with No. 18 Duke, followed by a Sunday clash with Hofstra.
From the Start
- After leading off the season with five road contests in the first six games, the Orange return to J.S. Coyne for back-to-back games.
- Syracuse opens ACC play with No. 18 Duke on Friday with a 5 p.m. start before taking on in-state for Hofstra on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be on ACC Network Extra.
- The Orange begin their 10th season in the ACC. Syracuse won its first-ever ACC home game, besting No. 4 Virginia 4-1 on Oct. 5, 2013.
- Syracuse is 30-28 all-time in the ACC, all under 16th year head coach Ange Bradley.
Hat Tricks Galore
- Three Syracuse field hockey players have hat tricks this season: Joy Haarman vs. Vermont (Aug. 27), Quirine Comans vs. Columbia (Sept. 4), and now Charlotte de Vries at No. 25 Monmouth (Sept. 11).
- Haarman and Comans each scored their first career hat tricks as members of the Orange program, while de Vries notched her second and first since 2019.
- Haarman scored her hat trick in a 33 minute span against the Catamounts while Comans notched her three goals in a 40 minute span against the Lions. De Vries accounted for all three goals in the Orange win at Monmouth, the first natural hat trick of her  'Cuse career.
- Through the first three weekends of Division I field hockey, only two programs have multiple hat tricks: Syracuse (3) and Penn State (2).
- Through the first two weekends there are 25 programs that have not scored at least nine goals this season, as Haarman, Comans, and de Vries have combined for in just hat tricks.
Bradley vs. Ranked Opponents
- For a second-straight weekend, the Orange will take on an opponent ranked in the NFHCA Coaches Poll as Syracuse opens ACC play with No. 18 Duke on Friday.
- Now in her 16th year at the helm, head coach Ange Bradley has coached against ranked opponents 169 times, winning 104 of those contests, a 61.5 winning percentage.
- Bradley's teams hold a 4-0 record against teams ranked 18th in that week's NFHCA Coaches Poll. The Orange have never faced a Duke team ranked 18th.
- Friday is the first time Syracuse faces the number 18 team since besting Boston College by a 3-1 count on Sept. 9, 2016 at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
- Under Bradley, the Orange are 7-2 against ranked Duke teams, holding a 2-1 mark at home. The two losses came during the 2018 season when the Blue Devils were ranked third and fourth, reaching the Elite Eight.

- Syracuse field hockey gears up for its 10th season as a member institution in the ACC.
- Since the 2013 campaign, Syracuse has a 4-5 record in league openers, playing in one of the most competitive field hockey conferences in the country.
- However, Syracuse will open ACC play at home for just the fourth time. The Orange are 2-1 in ACC openers with the home field advantage.

Williamson's #9 Jersey to Be Retired
- Former Syracuse field hockey standout Julie Williamson's #9 jersey will be retired on Oct. 9 prior to the 2 p.m. match at J.S. Coyne Stadium against Cornell.
- Williamson is the first field hockey student-athlete to have a jersey retired.
- During her career (1991-94), Williamson helped lead Syracuse to its first-ever NCAA Tournament (1993) after capturing the BIG EAST title.Â
- Her Orange teams gathered a 52-20-7 mark in that span.
- She was the first three-time NFCHA All-American, a four-time All-Region pick. She graduated as the all-time points leader and still ranks seventh.
- Williamson was the first-ever Orange player selected to play for the USWNT, scoring against France for her first international goal on July 21, 1993.
