One quick stay at J.S. Coyne Stadium and it's back on the road for the Syracuse University field hockey team as the Orange head for New Jersey for a pair this weekend at No. 17 Princeton and No. 25 Monmouth.
From the Start
- After a brief, one-game stay at J.S. Coyne Stadium, Syracuse hits the road for another weekend of action.
- The seventh-ranked Orange head to the Garden State for a pair this weekend, taking on No. 17 Princeton on Friday at 4 p.m. and No. 25 Monmouth on Sunday at noon.
- The respective fields, Bedford Field and So Sweet A Cat Field, are 40 miles apart.
- Syracuse jumped up three spots in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll, sliding into seventh. Both opponents this weekend are ranked and will be the first ranked test for the Orange this season.
Hats Off x2!
- Two Syracuse field hockey players have hat tricks this season: Joy Haarman vs. Vermont (Aug. 27) and Quirine Comans vs. Columbia (Sept. 4).
- The two graduate students each scored their first career hat tricks as members of the Orange program.
- Haarman scored her hat trick in a 33 minute span against the Catamounts while Comans notched her three goals in a 40 minute span against the Lions.
- Through the first two weekends, roughly one-third of Division I teams have not scored six goals, as Haarman and Comans have combined to do. There are eight programs that have not scored more than three goals this season.
Bradley vs. Ranked Opponents
- This weekend, the Orange get their first crack at ranked opponents this season. Syracuse leads with No. 17 Princeton on Friday and No. 25 Monmouth on Sunday.
