
51st Hardwood Club Banquet To Honor Warrick

The 51st Syracuse University Men's Basketball Hardwood Banquet, presented by Printing & Promotional Solutions, is scheduled for Sunday, March 5 at the OnCenter in Syracuse.

The Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence will be awarded to Hakim Warrick '05, who played on Syracuse's 2003 NCAA Championship team and went on to play in the NBA. The honor is bestowed on an individual or individuals who have ties to the men's basketball program and have made outstanding contributions to college basketball.

Warrick was a four-year starter at Syracuse. He is one of just six players who surpassed 2,000 career points and he still ranks fifth at Syracuse with 2,073 to his credit. Warrick led the Orange in scoring and rebounding average in 2003-04 (19.8 ppg., 8.6 rpg.) and 2004-05 (21.4 ppg., 8.6 rpg.).

He earned several BIG EAST Conference honors, starting with the 2002-03 Most Improved Player Award. He was a first-team, All-BIG EAST honoree as a junior and senior and was the conference's 2004-05 Player of the Year. Warrick received the 2004-05 Dave Gavitt Award (tournament MVP) after helping the Orange to the BIG EAST Tournament title.

Warrick was a 2005 NBA first-round pick by the Memphis Grizzlies. He played eight years in the NBA with stops at Memphis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Phoenix, New Orleans and Charlotte.

Tickets are $100 per person and $1.000 per table of 10. Proceeds benefit the Conrad McRae Endowed Men's Basketball Scholarship and the men's basketball program.

Doors open for the Hardwood Banquet at 5:00 p.m. with a reception that includes a silent auction featuring unique sports memorabilia, a player autograph session, and an opportunity to bid on having players sit at your table. Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.
