Syracuse (13-9, 6-5) welcomes #7 Virginia (16-3, 8-2) into the JMA Wireless Dome on Monday, Jan. 30 at 7:00 p.m.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange are looking to rebound after back-to-back losses against North Carolina and Virginia Tech last week. No. 7 Virginia enters the matchup with the longest active win streak in the league (six consecutive victories). The Cavaliers have won eight of their last nine and currently sit second in the conference standings.

SYRACUSE-VIRGINIA SERIES
In the all-time series, Virginia has won 12 games compared to Syracuse's six. UVA has defeated the Orange in four and eight of the last nine matchups. The last time SU bested the Cavaliers was a 65-55 victory in Charlottesville on Jan. 11, 2020. In the Dome, Virginia holds a 5-2 advantage versus Syracuse. The Orange look to split the season series after falling at UVA, 73-66, earlier this month (Jan. 7).

LAST TIME OUT
SU lost an 85-70 decision at Virginia Tech on Saturday night. Freshman guard Judah Mintz (21 points) matched a previous personal-best of two 3-pointers and freshman guard Justin Taylor (12 points) set a new season-high of four three-pointers made. Freshman forward Maliq Brown (11 points) earned his first career start for the Orange.

ORANGE LEADERS
Senior guard Joseph Girard III has been the offensive workhorse for the Orange averaging 19.0 ppg. in the month of January. Senior center Jesse Edwards continues to lead the ACC in blocks with 2.9 blocks per game and averages a double-double(13.4 ppg.,10.4 rpg.). Mintz (15.2 ppg.) leads the league in steals (2.0 spg.) and ranks second among Division I freshmen in assists average (4.5 apg.).

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia has three players averaging double figures, senior guard Armaan Franklin (13.1 ppg.), graduate guard Kihei Clark (11.3 ppg.), and fifth-year forward Jayden Gardner (10.5 ppg.). Clark (5.8 apg) and Beekman (5.1 apg) are second and third in the ACC in assists average, respectively. The Cavaliers have shot over 50% as a team in two of their last three games.

'CUSE FANS CAN VOTE FOR GIRARD
Senior Joseph Girard III is one of 20 players named to the 2023 Jerry West Award watch list, annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I college basketball. Orange fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for the three rounds. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January, five in February, and the five finalists will be presented to Jerry West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected in March. MCNAMARA AND WARRICK JERSEY RETIREMENT
Twenty years after playing a major role in Syracuse's first NCAA Basketball Championship, Gerry McNamara '06 and Hakim Warrick '05 will have their Orange jerseys hoisted to the Dome rafters. The jersey retirements will take place on Sunday, March 4 when Syracuse hosts Wake Forest at 5:00 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.

51ST HARDWOOD CLUB BANQUET TO HONOR WARRICK
Warrick will be honored with The Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence at the 51st Syracuse University Men's Basketball Hardwood Banquet on Sunday, Mar. 5th. The honor is bestowed on an individual or individuals who have ties to the men's basketball program and have made outstanding contributions to college basketball. Tickets are $100 per person and $1,000 per table of 10. Proceeds benefit the Conrad McRae Endowed Men's Basketball Scholarship and the men's basketball program. 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF '03 CHAMPIONSHIP
Syracuse University Athletics will celebrate the 20^th Anniversary of the men's basketball program's 2003 NCAA Championship throughout the 2022-23 season, culminating with a reunion at the March 4 contest with Wake Forest. Members of the 2002-03 national title team have been invited to return to Syracuse for planned activities the weekend of March 3-5, 2023. The Orange are scheduled to host Wake Forest on Saturday, March 4, in the final regular-season contest of the campaign. Those from the 2002-03 squad who can return, will be recognized at the game.
