
Wickham Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore goalkeeper Jahiem Wickham was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Wickham becomes the first Syracuse player to earn a weekly honor this season.
Wickham started both games this past week against Colgate and No. 13 North Carolina, earning a pair of clean sheets. Against the Raiders, the Brampton, Ontario, native made a pair of saves in the team's 1-0 win. He was also instrumental in 'Cuse's 1-0 victory over the Tar Heels on Friday in Chapel Hill. The goalkeeper made four saves, including a pair of stops over the last six minutes of the match, to preserve the upset.
The sophomore made his college debut on Sept. 1 at Penn State, appearing in the final 20:07 of the match. Wickham has since made three starts, earning a clean sheet in all three matches. In his four appearances, Wickham has a 0.31 goals against average and .909 save percentage to go along with a 3-0-1 record.
The Orange return to action Tuesday night when the team hosts Temple at 7 p.m. to begin a four-match homestand.
