Syracuse takes on a nationally-ranked foe for the fourth time in the last six matches when it hosts #17 Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The Orange have already tangled with #3 Florida State, #8 Clemson and #17 Wake Forest.

The Syracuse-Pittsburgh Series:
The two teams first met in 1996, during Syracuse's initial season of intercollegiate play, and the Orange emerged with a 6-0 victory. The Orange have a 12-7-5 series advantage.

In the most recent encounter between the two programs, on Oct. 20, 2022, Pittsburgh claimed a 2-0 decision.

Syracuse Status:
The Orange (2-10-2, 0-5-1) lost at Louisville last Sunday, 2-1. It concluded a stretch of five matches in 17 days.

Redshirt sophomore Erin Flurey has a squad-best five goals and three assists. Sophomore Anna Rupert has tallied two goals and three assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch tops the ACC in saves (97) and saves average (6.9).

Pittsburgh Status:
The Panthers come to Syracuse with a three-game winning streak. Pittsburgh's only defeats were to #21 Xavier, 2-1, and Louisville, 3-2.

Junior Sarah Schupansky (9g, 6a) and junior Samiah Phiri (7g, 3a) rank first and fourth in the ACC, respectively, in goals scored. In goal, sophomore Ellie Breech has started all 14 contests for Pittsburgh. Breech has a 0.94 goals against average, a .750 save percentage and four shutouts.

Notable Notes:

Vanderbosch has accumulated 97 saves this fall. It's the fifth best mark in school history. She is five saves away from the fourth spot and six stops from third.
The Atlantic Coast Conference continues to dominate the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The ACC occupies four of the top 11 rankings and five overall in the Oct. 10 poll.
Syracuse junior Kylen Grant leads the Orange with 37 career starts, followed by senior Kate Murphy with 36.
Grace Gillard has a squad-best 32 straight starts for the Orange.
Syracuse assistant coach Alex Zaroyan was selected for the United Soccer Coaches 30-under-30 program.
