- Six minutes later in the 25th minute, Hak was awarded a penalty stroke for her third goal of the season and a 2-0 UNC lead, which held up into halftime.
- Heck added a goal for the Tar Heels in the 41st minute before assisting on the final UNC goal of the day on the Dixon goal in the 48th minute.
- Down but still fighting, the Orange drove into the Tar Heel zone before a shot was impeded and a penalty stroke was awarded. Van den Nieuwenhof stepped to the penalty spot and finished her seventh career penalty stroke with 44 seconds showing on the clock.
