ORANGE CONTINUE ROAD SWING AT FLORIDA STATE
• Syracuse plays its second of three-straight road games at Florida State. It also marks the Orange's second-consecutive game against a ranked opponent.Â
• The game will air on ABC, with Bob Wischusen (PxP), Robert Griffin III (analyst) and Kris Budden (reporter) on the call. Syracuse head coach Dino Babers served as the wide receivers coach at Baylor in 2011 when Griffin won the Heisman Trophy.
• The Orange play their next two games on the road, marking the first three-game stretch of true road games since the 1996 season for SU. After hosting Clemson on Sept. 30, it will be more than a month before Syracuse returns to the JMA Wireless Dome to host Boston College on Nov. 3.
SERIES HISTORY
• Syracuse and Florida State will meet for the 16th time when they take the field on Saturday.
• The Seminoles own a 13-2 advantage in the series.
• Both of the Orange's wins against Florida State have come in Syracuse - 1966 in Archbold Stadium and 2018 in the JMA Wireless Dome.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
• Syracuse is in the midst on a 34-day stretch without a game played in the JMA Dome.
• The stretch is the third-longest in college football this season, with Coastal Carolina (37 days between home games) having the longest, followed by Arkansas (35). The Razorbacks' stretch includes a neutral site game.
• The last time Syracuse did not have a home game in the month of October was in 2008, when two byes and two road games accounted for the stretch. The Orange's last 30+ day stretch without a home game that included three road contests was in 1996.Â
• When the Orange do return home, it'll be a Nov. 3 Friday night affair with Boston College. The team will then play a neutral site game vs. Pitt (Nov. 11) and a game at Georgia Tech (Nov. 18) before the next Saturday home game on Nov. 25 vs. Wake Forest. The 56 days between Saturday home games trails New Mexico State's 63 day stretch without a Saturday home game.
TOUGH STRETCH
• Syracuse is in the midst of a grueling stretch that features back-to-back road games against two of the nation's current top-15 teams.
• The Orange are 1-of-10 teams in the country that will play back-to-back weeks against teams currently ranked in the top-15 of this week's AP Poll. The other nine are Notre Dame, Boston College, Miami, Duke, USC, Arizona, Cal, Utah, Oregon State and Colorado. The list does not include teams who have top-15 matchups with a bye in between.
• Of that list, only Syracuse and Duke (at Florida State 10/21 & at Louisville 10/28) have their back-to-back games vs. top-15 teams coming as both road contests.
SHRADER RUSHING TO RECORD BOOKS
• QB Garrett Shrader scored his sixth rushing touchdown of the season in the win against Army. That total ties ranks second on the team and 24th in the nation.Â
• Shrader now has 29 rushing touchdowns at Syracuse, which tie for fourth on the school leader list. The only 'Cuse quarterback to score more rushing touchdowns was Eric Dungey (35). Shrader's 29 rushing touchdowns also tie for eighth on the ACC record list for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.
AT A LOSS
• Syracuse leads the ACC and ranks 12th in the nation in tackles for loss, averaging 7.8 per game.
• The Orange recorded a season-high 13.0 TFLs against Clemson, which were one shy of the the most for Syracuse under the direction of head coach Dino Babers.
• DL Caleb Okechukwu and LB Leon Lowery had three TFLs each against the Tigers. It was a career high for Okechukwu.
ROCKY'S ROVER
• DB Justin Barron is thriving at the rover spot averaging 9.8 tackles per game in his last four contests.
• Barron posted a career-high 13 tackles at North Carolina, marking his first double-digit tackle performance of his career. The 13 tackles are the most for a member of the Orange this season.
• He is second on the team in total tackles (44) and forced fumbles (2).
• Barron is in the rover spot on Long's defense, which was first played by Long's Hall of Fame protege Brian Urlacher in the system.
A WIN WOULD …Â
• Improve Dino Babers' record to 41-51 as head coach of the Orange.
• Give the Orange their first win against a ranked opponent this season and a ranked win for the fifth year in eight season under Babers.
• Give Syracuse its 753rd all-time victory (includes 11 wins from 2004-06 that were vacated by the NCAA). The Orange currently rank 21st on the FBS ledger of winningest programs. Syracuse is one of 33 FBS schools to have accumulated 700+ wins.
