#4 Florida State Tops Orange

Syracuse (4-3, 0-3 ACC) split its offensive yards with 137 passing and 124 on the ground. LeQuint Allen Jr. picked up 127 all-purpose yards, including 110 on the ground while catching three passes for 16 yards.
Garrett Shrader threw for 99 yards while Carlos Del Rio-Wilson completed two passes for 29 yards. Six different Orange caught a pass, led by 37 yards from Damien Alford and 36 from Umari Hatcher.
Justin Barron topped the Orange defense with 11 total tackles, including 1.5 sacks. It was his second-straight double-digit effort. Derek McDonald accounted for the other half sack alongside a career-high 10 total tackles. Barron notched a pair of pass breakups, as did Jason Simmons Jr. The Syracuse defense forced two of the three Florida State fumbles, with Alijah Clark and Kevin Jobity Jr. each jarring the ball loose.
Despite two Syracuse turnovers, the Orange defense held Florida State off the board following those miscues. The unit also managed to hold the 'Noles without points in the red zone on one of their tries, the first time any defense has accomplished that this season. The Orange also had a season-low two penalties for just eight yards.
Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman led their offensive effort, catching nine passes for 140 yards. He also had over 100 yards in punt returns on the day, QB Jordan Travis threw for 284 yards on 23-of-37 passing.
Trailing 7-0 after the first quarter, Syracuse got on the board near the midway point of the second quarter as Brady Denaburg kicked a 37-yard field goal, making it a 10-3 game. FSU notched one more score in the second quarter to enter the locker room with a two score lead.
Out of the halftime break, the Syracuse defensive unit held Florida State to just seven points in the third quarter and limited the Seminoles to a field goal early in the fourth quarter, before they broke through for two more scores late in the game to deliver the final result.
Syracuse enters its bye week before taking on Virginia Tech for a Thursday night game in Blacksburg, Virginia. Game time on Oct. 26 is set for 7:30 p.m. at Lane Stadium on ESPN.
