Syracuse returns to the JMA Wireless Dome for the first time in more than a month when it hosts longtime rival Boston College on Friday, Nov. 3. Opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Â
"Excited to be back home, getting back in the Dome," head coach Dino Babers said. "Hoping the fans are going to be there to be our 12th man. We definitely need them. We're excited about the opportunity to get to play our rival, Boston College. Coach Hafley and his team – he's on a roll. I believe they've won four in a row, 2-2 in conference. They are just coming off a big win versus Connecticut. This game is different. The older guys know, the younger guys are going to find out real quick. We're excited about having our next opportunity to right some wrongs."
Â
Fans can purchase tickets for Friday's game are available at Cuse.com/tickets. Syracuse is celebrating Family Weekend on campus this weekend and Orange legend Dwight Freeney will be honored during a halftime ceremony for his upcoming induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Â
The Orange and Eagles will take to the gridiron for the 57th time in a series that dates back to 1924. Syracuse's 56 games against Boston College rank as its fifth-highest total against any opponent. Pittsburgh leads the way with 78 meetings, followed by Penn State (71), Colgate (68) and West Virginia (61).
Â
The Eagles are one of the hottest teams in the ACC, having won four-straight to improve their record to 5-3. Syracuse has won the last two meetings between the two teams, including last year's season-finale in Chestnut Hill, 32-23. The Orange trailed by 11 with 12:58 to go before Garrett Shrader threw two touchdown passes and Sean Tucker ran for a pair of scores to secure the 'Cuse victory.
Â
When Syracuse takes the field Friday night it will have been 34 days since the Orange last played on its home field when it hosted Clemson on September 30. 'Cuse is 3-1 in the friendly confines of the Dome this season.
Â
"[It's been] a long time," Babers said about his team playing on the road for more than a month. "I think back to other offenses having trouble during their snap counts, other offenses jumping offsides.. Hearing the crowd get excited, watching the defense get excited to get another opportunity five yards back. I want those good times again. There's no place like Dome. This is the perfect time for us to come home. It's exactly what the doctor ordered."
Â
Playing under the lights on Friday night has become a frequent occurrence for the Orange over the past few years. Syracuse has played at least on Friday night game every year since 2016 and this week's game will be the fourth in the last three years. The Orange are 17-9 (.654) in weekday games since beating Kansas State in the 2010 Pinstripe Bowl.
