How it Happened
- After a scoreless first quarter that had just one shot, an Orange effort, Syracuse broke through as Amber Coebergh's stick was held down on a shot chance, setting up van den Nieuwenhof's third penalty stroke goal in the last three games.
- Late in the third quarter, Syracuse extended its lead as Boogert inserted a penalty corner directly to de Vries, who zipped the ball right back to an unmarked Boogert for the five-hole tap-in goal.
- Looking for one last tally, the Orange took four shots in the fourth quarter, two of which were on goal. The Orange defense allowed zero Princeton shots in the entire second half.
- Syracuse out-shot the Tigers 12-2 in the entire game as the Orange put six shots on goal.
- Van den Nieuwenhof notched her fifth penalty stroke goal of the season and sixth of her career. She has three converted strokes in the last three games for the Orange.
- 'Cuse earned five corner chances, setting up the Boogert goal late in the third quarter.
- Borzymowski picked up her second shutout of the season, coupled with a 3-0 win over UConn (Sept. 10). It was her 12th clean sheet with the program.
- Syracuse won its 12th game all-time against the Tigers, picked up back-to-back wins after knocking Princeton out of the NCAA Tournament last season.
- Sunday's victory was the first 'Cuse win in Princeton since a 4-3 double overtime win on Oct. 5, 2014. It was the first Syracuse shutout win on the road against the Tigers since a 2-0 win on Sept. 23, 2012.
- Coming off the ACC bye week, No. 12 Syracuse returns to J.S. Coyne Stadium on Friday afternoon, hosting top-ranked North Carolina in a crucial ACC showdown.
- Game time is set for 4 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
