Orange fans already know Dyaisha Fair is one of the top players in the country. On Tuesday, it was further validated when Fair was one of 50 student-athletes named to the Preseason Top 50 John R. Wooden Award Watch List. The Wooden Award, presented by Principal, is awarded to the top player in college basketball each season.Â
The Preseason Top 50 List was chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts and features 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All-America Team and Most Outstanding Player Award. Fair is one of 10 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) players on the list. The Pac-12 has 11 players making the ACC's selections the second-most of the Power 5 conferences.Â
After the first week of the season, Fair is tied for second in the ACC in scoring (22.5 ppg) and is second in three-point field goals per game (4.0). She has scored 2,425 career points and made 939 career field goals during her time between Buffalo and Syracuse. Last season she led the ACC in steals per game and was second in the league in scoring with 19.9 ppg.Â
Fair earned All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Defensive Team honors in her first season donning and Orange uniform. She picked up WBCA All-America honorable mention and is currently on the preseason watch lists for the Naismith Trophy and the Nancy Lieberman Award. She was also named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.Â
