11/8/2023 11:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior Jeorgio Kocevski was selected as the ACC Men's Soccer Co-Midfielder of the Year, in addition to All-ACC First Team honors. Fellow fourth year Lorenzo Boselli was named to the All-ACC Third Team by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), as the league announced its postseason honors Wednesday morning ahead of the ACC Men's Soccer Semifinals.
Â
Kocevski is the first Orange player to win the ACC Midfielder of the Year honor and fourth major award winner in program history. Alex Bono and Miles Robinson earned the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2014 and 2016, respectively, while head coach Ian McIntyre earned ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2015 and 2022.
Â
This is the second consecutive season Kocevski earned All-ACC recognition. The midfielder was tabbed third-team All-ACC in 2022. This year, the Liverpool, N.Y., native has registered one goal and 11 assists in 18 matches. Kocevski paces the conference in both assists and assists per game. His 11 assists are also tied with Marcello Vitale (1982) for the most by a senior in program history. Kocevski is one of five players in program history to record double digit assists in a single season.
Â
Boselli earned All-ACC honors for the first time in his career. The Bregnano, Italy, native leads the team in goals (six), points (14), shots (48) and shots on target (19). His 48 shots rank second in the ACC while his 2.67 shot per game is good for fifth. Boselli has also recorded multiple shots in 16 matches this season, including four contests with at least four shots.
Â
Forster Ajago (Duke) was named the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year, Garrison Tubbs (Wake Forest) was Defensive Player of the Year while Bryan Dowd (Notre Dame) was Goalkeeper of the Year. Stephen Annor Gyamfi (Virginia) was tabbed Freshman of the Year and Chad Riley (Notre Dame) earned Coach of the Year honors.
Â
No. 22 Syracuse faces No. 13 North Carolina in the ACC Championship Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the SU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and will air live on ACC Network.
