SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange's star sophomore guard Judah Mintz, a national player of the year candidate, is among the best in the ACC in points per game (fourth). He also ranks towards the top of Division I in free throws made (fourth) and attempted (second). Mintz and backcourt partner J.J Starling, a sophomore, have helped the rest of their squad score, passing out 35 and 32 assists this season, respectively.

The Ducks are currently riding a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating California Baptist, 76-55, on Tuesday. Oregon was led by senior Kario Oquendo with 20 points and freshman Jackson Shelstad with 17.

SYRACUSE-OREGON SERIES
Sunday will mark the second all-time meeting between Syracuse and Oregon. In the previous matchup, the Ducks ousted the Orange, 80-65, on Nov. 16, 2018, at the Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden. Syracuse was led by Tyus Battle with 17 points while Oregon's Bol Bol had 26 points and nine rebounds.

The backcourt tandem of Mintz and Starling led the Orange to victory, 80-68, in the 99th meeting between Syracuse and Georgetown, 80-68, last Saturday. Mintz scored 25 points and Starling added a season-high 21. In addition, Mintz went 13-of-15 from the charity stripe and swiped a career-best five steals. Sophomore forward Quadir Copeland recorded a personal-best 14 points, to go along with four rebounds. Junior center Mounir Hima made his second appearance this season, and logged four points, three rebounds and one assist.

Mintzleads Syracuse in scoring average (20.1) and assists per game (3.5). Sophomore forward Chris Bell has been the Orange's second most productive scorer, averaging 13.1 points and ranks second in the ACC in 3-pointers made (29). Sophomore Justin Taylor is the club's top rebounder (6.2 rpg.). Sophomore forward Maliq Brown ranks third in the ACC in steals per game with 2.20.

Oregon's fifth-year senior Jermaine Couisnard leads the team in scoring average (12.3) and assist average (2.9). Reserve senior guard Kario Oquendo has played in all nine the squad's games this season, and averaged 10.2 points per game. The Ducks have been without senior center N'Faly Dante and junior center Nate Bittle, who continue to be sidelined with injuries.

Mintz is one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award, which is annually presented to the top point guard in Division I men's basketball. Orange followers are encouraged to participate in three rounds of Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, on hoophallawards.com.
Mintz is also on the watch list for the Naismith Trophy and John R. Wooden Award. Each list in comprised of 50 student-athletes. The lists for each award will be narrowed throughout the year, and winners of the awards will be announced later in the season.
