Season Ends at Boca Raton Bowl

The 2023 season came to an end for Syracuse on Thursday at the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl, falling 45-0 against South Florida at FAU Stadium.
Syracuse (6-7) covered 139 of its 159 yards of offense through the air. Braden Davis completed six of his 13 passes for 84 yards. Out of the wildcat, Dan Villari connected on four passes for 55 yards while running for another 37 yards. Damien Alford caught four passes for 83 yards.
On defense, Syracuse was backed by nine total tackles from Marlowe Wax while Kevin Jobity Jr. dropped two Bulls for losses. Derek McDonald and Jason Simmons Jr. each broke up a pass attempt.
USF (7-6) finished with 407 total yards of offense, including 246 in the air and another 161 on the ground. Byrum Brown completed 19 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns, leading the rushing effort as well with 64.
The Bulls scored twice in the first quarter, once on a Byrum Brown touchdown pass to Sean Atkins and again late in the quarter on a scoop-and-score on a Syracuse field goal attempt.
USF tallied three scores in the second quarter, taking a 31-0 lead into halftime. A 31-yard Byrum touchdown pass started the scoring, followed by a 40-yard field goal and another scoop and score.
The Bulls found the end zone once in the third quarter on a 35-yard passing play before a 2-yard touchdown for the seventh and final USF score of the evening.
