Vestri Breaks Another School Record

Amanda Vestri set her second school record of the indoor season at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, one-of-two meets featuring Orange competition this weekend.
Vestri, who already took down the indoor 5k record this season, broke Lauren Penny's 3000-meter record, which has stood since 2013. She crossed the line in 9:04.36 to set the new school mark by just over two seconds.
Vestri was the 10th-fastest collegian in an event that featured over 300 entrants on Friday. Entering the evening, only 13 people had posted a faster time in the nation this season. Teammate Savannah Roark was just five spots behind Vestri, running to a time of 9:10.39. Roark's time bested her previous PR by 27 seconds.
Abigail Spiers (9:21.90), Shona McCulloch (9:46.78) and Ivy Gonzales (9:51.20) also set new personal bests in the event.
Peyton Rollins took set a new PR in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 25.16 seconds.
Emma Eastman (4:47.53) led the way for the Orange in the mile with a new PR. Sydney Nowicki (4:51.97) and Caroline Kirby (4:52.92) also set new PRs in the event, while, Kensey May (4:59.36), Justus Holden-Betts (5:10.88) and Lizzie Bigelow (5:25.23) also competed.
Kirstyn Schechter raced in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.96 seconds, which was also good for a new PR.
Olivia Joly (16:45.18), Ellie Lawler (16:48.80), Emily Nugent (17:14.95) and Reilly Zink (17:17.43) took on the 5k. Lawler and Nugent's marks were new career bests.
Morgan Marshall turned in a time of 8.03 seconds in the 60-meter dash, while Rollins (9.04 seconds), CJ Fox (9.39 seconds) and Kirstyn Schechter (9.39 seconds) all raced in the 60-meter hurdles.
'Cuse also had a small contingent at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational, where Jaheem Hayles set a new personal best time of 7.69 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, to once again put him inside the top-10 in the NCAA this season. Hayles turned in a mark of 8.08 in the semis that left him unable to reach the finals though. Teammate Anthony Vazquez (8.05), finished 23rd. Shaleah Colaire finished 30th in 8.62 seconds in the women's event.
Trei Thorogood missed his PR by 0.01 seconds, racing to a time of 6.73 seconds in the 60-meter dash prelims. He finished 16th in the event after turning in a time of 6.75 seconds in the semis. The event was stacked with elite competition, as 2022 World Championships bronze medalist Trayvon Bromell won the event.
Kahniya James finished her race in 7.51 seconds.
'Cuse will conclude the weekend at both meets on Saturday.
