Syracuse (16-11, 9-7) lost to Duke (19-8, 10-6), 77-55, in front of a record crowd of 31,063, the largest on-campus showing in the NCAA this season. The Blue Devils snapped SU's 3 game win streak and have now captured eight straight contests against the Orange.
Senior guard Joseph Girard III (21 points) collared his 10th 20-plus point game of the season and freshman guard Judah Mintz (18) added his 23rd game of double-digit points this season.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Duke used a commanding 21-2 scoring spurt to take control of the contest. Jeremy Roach led the visitors with seven and Kyle Filipowski added five. The trio of Jacob Grandison, Tyrese Proctor, and Draiq Whitehead all made a single 3-pointer within the run. Duke led 40-21 with 2:30 left to play in the half and continued to hold an advantage that expanded up to 21 points in the second frame.
WILD OPENING FRAME
In the opening three minutes, the Blue Devils scored seven of the first nine points. Edwards was then fouled and connected on a single mark at the line. Jeremy Roach then fouled Girard beyond the arc and the senior guard converted all of his attempts at the line, effectively trimming the visitor's advantage to 6-7 with 17 minutes remaining in the opening frame.
After a field goal by Duke's Mark Mitchell, Mintz nailed a jumper and a dunk off a fast break turnover to give the Orange their first lead of the night, 10-9. On the following possession, Kyle Filipowski tossed a bad pass that was intercepted by Mintz. The freshman guard handed the ball off to Girard who tacked on a fast-break 3-pointer. Syracuse held its largest lead of the first half, 13-9, with 13:00 to go.

BLUE DEVILS IN COMMAND
The Orange attempted to build on their momentum by scoring six of the first eight points across the first two minutes after returning from intermission. Duke responded with a jumper by Mark Mitchell and Whitehead's fourth 3-pointer of the night. With 17 minutes left in the contest, the Blue Devils continued to hold a 44-33 lead.
Over the next 30 seconds, Brown made a layup and Mintz added two shots at the charity stripe to bring SU within 10 of Duke, but the visitors amassed the next eight points. At the 12-minute mark, a field goal by Jeremy Roach gave the Blue Devils a 55-37 edge.

Syracuse heads down to the Palmetto State as the squad will face Clemson on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game is set to air on the ACC Network.
