THE GAME
- Back home to the Dome for Syracuse men's lacrosse as the No. 18 Orange host No. 16 North Carolina in the ACC opener for both programs.
- Saturday's game is the first of two meetings between these teams in 2023; the second will be a neutral site showdown in the DMV in mid-April.
- Saturday's tilt will be the first of five TV games for the Orange this season. Joe Beninati and Paul Carcaterra '97 will have the call for ACC Network.
- Tim Leonard '20 (PxP) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com, The Varsity App and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
THE NORTH CAROLINA SERIES
- The Orange and North Carolina meet for the 30th time since the series began in 1981. Syracuse holds an all-time record of 18-11, but the Tar Heels have won the last three meetings.
- Since Syracuse joined the ACC for the 2014 season, the Orange hold a 5-3 record against North Carolina in conference games (excluding ACC Tournament).
- The Orange and North Carolina will meet for the 12th time in the JMA Dome, where Syracuse holds a 9-2 record.
- Syracuse is 6-4 against the Tar Heels in the last 10 meetings, but is looking for its first win at the Dome since a 13-12 overtime victory on April 14, 2018.
- The Orange average more than a dozen goals per game against the Tar Heels, and have been held to single digits just twice against UNC since joining the ACC. Syracuse is 1-1 when scoring fewer than 10 goals in that span, and 6-4 when reaching double digits.
- North Carolina is one of two teams in the ACC the Orange will face twice during the regular season, the second is Duke on March 5 at home and April 29 in Durham.
LEAGUE OPENERS
- Syracuse embarks on its 10th men's lacrosse season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
- The Orange did not play any ACC games in 2020 before the pandemic shuttered the season.
- Since joining the ACC in 2014, the Orange are 8-3 all-time in the first ACC game of the year.
- Syracuse holds a 3-2 record  when the first ACC game of the year is at home.Â
- The Orange are 5-3 in their first home ACC game of the season, including a 1-0 mark under head coach Gary Gait behind a 14-10 win over Duke in last season's first league game at the JMA Dome. Syracuse opened ACC action a month prior at No. 2 Virginia.
- Syracuse was a clean 4-0 in BIG EAST openers during its brief time in the conference. The Orange had just one BIG EAST game at home to begin the conference calendar, a 15-12 win for No. 2 Syracuse over No. 12 Georgetown.
- The Orange went 4-0 in their first home BIG EAST game of the season, regardless of when that happened (for example, Syracuse's first home BIG EAST game in 2011 was on April 30 after one true road game and three neutrals).
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE DOME
- Well over 10,000 fans have enjoyed seeing Syracuse improve to 3-0 at the JMA Wireless Dome this season.
- The 10,048 cumulative attendance leads the country in total attendance.
- The Orange have the third-best average attendance in the country with 3,349 attending per home game. Syracuse has the third-best average attendance in Division I for teams that have played multiple home games.
- The three home games this season are all in the top seven of single game attendance numbers so far in 2023.
