
Softball Splits Day One Of The Lance Up Invite

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Day one of the Lance Up Invite opened with Syracuse splitting its doubleheader slate. Veteran pitchers Lindsey Hendrix and Kaia Oliver led a shutout of Harvard in a 1-0 win, while tournament host California Baptist beat Syracuse in the second leg of the doubleheader, 8-2.
Sophomore left fielder Angie Ramos recorded a hit in both games, as the Orange combined for 11 hits across the two contests.
Game One vs. Harvard:
Behind a lights out start from Hendrix, Syracuse blanked Harvard, holding the Crimson to three hits. Hendrix got the win, as the Orlando, Florida native logged 6.1 innings, striking out five batters with one walk and three hits. Harvard's starting pitcher Katie Arrambide orchestrated a complete game, allowing six hits and one walk with one strikeout. Oliver was credited with the save.

Syracuse scored the game-winning run in the third inning. Angel Jasso split the infield with a single, giving the Orange a baserunner with one out. With Ramos reaching safely on an error, Syracuse had two runners on, with Jasso in scoring position on second. A wild pitch allowed a double steal, as Jasso scored the winning-run, 1-0.
The Lance Up Invite opener ended with 'Cuse scoring one run on six hits. Six different Orange batters recorded a hit. The Syracuse pitching staff held an opponent to three or less hits in a game for the second time this season.
Game Two vs. California Baptist:
The Lancers got started early at the plate, scoring the opening run in the first inning. Maya Martinez drove a ball past the left field wall for a solo home run, her second of the season.
In the bottom of the third, California Baptist added three more runs. Priscilla Estrada scored on a passed ball, followed by runs on a walk and a hit by pitch, 4-0.
Syracuse cut into the Lancer lead in the fourth inning. Jasso opened the inning with a bunt, advancing all the way to third on a fielding error. Ramos drove Jasso home with a single, 4-1. With two runners on, catcher Laila Alves squeezed a single past the first base, scoring a second run, 4-2.
In the next two innings, the Lancers continued to produce at the plate. Estrada scored her second run of the game on a RBI double from Karmyna Becerra in the fourth, 5-2. In the fifth inning, catcher Mackenzie San Pedro roped a double to deep right centerfield, scoring two runs, 7-2. A Sydney Soto single drove in the final run of the game, 8-2.
The Orange finished game two of the doubleheader with two runs on five hits. Alves logged a multi-hit performance with one RBI.
