Orange Lose To UC San Diego in Lance Up Invite Finale

RIVERSIDE, Calif – Syracuse softball lost the final game of the Lance Up Invite to UC San Diego, 6-0. Lindsey Hendrix got the start for the Orange, pitching four innings. UC San Diego starter Jada Cecil threw her fourth complete game of the season, striking out seven batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first inning, UC San Diego (9-14) scored runs in back-to-back frames. The Tritons loaded the bases on singles from Teagan Dobson and Keila Bosinger and a hit by pitch. A walk from Hailey Mulligan gave UC San Diego the lead, 1-0.
The Tritons doubled their advantage in the third. Bobbi Aguirre kick started the inning with a leadoff double, advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt from Clarissa Reynoso. A sacrifice fly from Dobson scored the second run, 2-0.
In the fourth inning, the UC San Diego offense kept rolling, adding two more runs. A pair of fielder's choices saw two more runs come across the plate, 4-0. Bosinger started the fifth inning with a single, setting the table for a Georgia Heathcock RBI double, 5-0. Sophia Real brought home Heathcock for the sixth and final run of the game, 6-0.
Syracuse (7-11, 0-3 Atlantic Coast) logged four hits, as Angie Ramos, Kelly Breen. Taylor Posner and Olivia Pess all tallied base hits. Hendrix pitched four innings, allowing four runs on four hits with one strikeout. Kaia Oliver added two innings in relief, striking out one batter while allowing three hits and two runs.
UP NEXT:
The Orange play their first midweek contest of the season, taking on No. 2 UCLA at Easton Stadium on Tuesday, Mar. 14. First pitch is scheduled for 10 p.m. eastern standard time and fans can catch all the action on the PAC-12 Network.
