Syracuse Returns To ACC Play Against #6 Florida State

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse softball resumes its Atlantic Coast Conference slate this weekend, taking on defending conference champion No. 6 Florida State in a three-game series.
The Orange and Seminoles take the diamond at 1 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 17, followed by a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Mar. 18. The series closes with a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday, Mar. 18. The first two games of the series will be streaming on ACC Network Extra, while Sunday's series finale will be televised live on ACC Network.

ORANGE UPDATE:
- Syracuse competed in the Lance Up Invite in Riverside, California over the weekend, going 2-1 in tournament play.
- The Orange recorded their first shutout of the season, blanking Harvard in a 1-0 win. Lindsey Hendrix pitched six innings, while Kaia Oliver was credited with the save.
- 'Cuse lost back-to-back contests against Cal Baptist and UC San Diego to close out the weekend.
- The showdown with No. 4 UCLA was canceled due to weather in Los Angeles.
- Taylor Posner led the Orange at the plate, logging a team-high three hits over six at-bats.
- Angie Ramos is orchestrating a breakout campaign, as the San Diego native leads the team in batting average (.333) and is second in hits (15) and total bases (17).
- Kelly Breen is the primary power bat for the Orange, as the second-year starter leads 'Cuse in slugging percentage (.415) and runs batted in (9).
- Syracuse is one of the stronger fielding sides in the ACC. After finishing the 2022 season ranked 10th in fielding percentage, the Orange are now fifth with a mark of .967.
SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES:
- Florida State is the No. 6 team in the nation, as the defending ACC champions hold a 21-6 record.
- The Seminoles begin their conference schedule against the Orange.
- Kalei Harding and Kaley Mudge lead the team in hits with 28. Sophomore catcher Katie Dack is the primary run producer for the Seminoles, as the Parker, Colorado native leads the team in RBIs (22), home runs (8) and slugging (.828).
- In the circle, two-time All-American Kathryn Sandercock leads Florida State in ERA (1.50), while she is tied with Makenna Reid for the team lead in strikeouts (43).
SERIES HISTORY:
- Florida State leads the all-time series against the Orange, 27-2.
- The Seminoles have won 22 straight game in the series, six of them being run-rule contests.
- The two programs first met in 2001, as the Orange won back-to-back games against Florida State in 2005.
- Syracuse and Florida State last met in 2021 at Skytop Softball Field.
