Orange Travel To Keystone State For Lafayette Series

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange softball travels to Easton, Pennsylvania this weekend for a three-game slate against Lafayette at the Lafayette Softball Field.
The series begins with a Saturday, Apr. 22 doubleheader, as game one begins at noon and game two has a scheduled start time of 2 p.m. The series is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, Apr. 23 at noon. All games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
ORANGE UPDATE:
Syracuse concludes its road schedule on Wednesday, Apr. 26 at Cornell. The Orange wrap up the regular season with an eight game homestand, starting with a series against Virginia.

ORANGE UPDATE:
- Syracuse and Binghamton split a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
- Catcher Laila Alves led the Orange to the 4-2 game one win with two runs batted in over two hits. Freshman pitcher Madison Knight picked up the win with a complete game performance, tying her career-high in strikeouts with seven.
- Binghamton took game two with a 12-3 run-rule victory.
- Alves led the Orange at the plate in Vestal, tallying four hits and two RBIs in five at-bats.
- The Orange are the youngest team in the Atlantic Coast Conference, as the 10 freshmen on the roster are the most in the conference.
- Underclassmen account for 71 percent of total hits, 69 percent of RBIs, 67 percent of runs scored and 69% of at-bats.
- Freshman outfielder Madelyn Lopez has taken over as the Orange's best hitter in 2023, leading the team in batting average (.345), slugging percentage (.476) and on-base percentage (.436).
- Second-year infielder Tessa Galipeau is orchestrating a great month, as she a has a .375 batting average, .500 slugging percentage amd five RBIs over 12 games in April.
- In April, Knight has a 4-2 record from the circle with a 3.38 earned run average and 40 strikeouts over 37.1 innings.
- The Orange are one of the stronger defensive sides in the ACC, ranking fifth in the conference in fielding percentage (.966) and fourth in fewest errors committed (32).
- Syracuse is 5-5 in its last 10 games.
- Lafayette brings a 6-29-1 record and 2-10 record in Patriot League play to this weekend's series.
- Freshman Kylee Sweet leads the Leopards in batting average (.323) and slugging percentage (.452).
