Star tight end Oronde Gadsden II has been named a preseason All-American by Phil Steele, on the heels of his record-breaking sophomore campaign in 'Cuse.
Gadsden II collected Third Team accolades on Steele's preseason list. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native was a First Team All-ACC selection and member of the Biletnikoff Award Watch List last season.
He hauled in a 61 passes for 969 yards, a total that led all tight ends nationally in 2022. Gadsden's receiving yards total was the seventh-highest mark in program history, but was tops among tight ends. His 61 catches was also the program's single-season record by a tight end and sophomore. He also had six touchdowns on the year, which finished sixth in the ACC, and was one-of-five players in the league to post four-or-more 100 yard receiving games.
Gadsden is one of three Orange players to enter the 2023 season on Pro Football Focus' list of the highest graded returning players at their respective positions. Quarterback Garrett Shrader and linebacker Marlowe Wax also made the cut on that list.
Gadsden is set to play a key role for 'Cuse as the Orange look to build off a bowl trip last season. Season tickets and partial plans are now on sale at Cuse.com/Tickets. The Orange boasted a 5-2 record in the JMA Dome a year ago and had back-to-back sellouts. Now is your chance to secure your seats for this upcoming season!
