Orange Crews Advance at Henley, Race Again Friday

The Syracuse men's rowing team is representing the Block S on an international scale this week at the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames, England. The Orange eight advanced to the quarterfinals of the Temple Challenge Cup early Wednesday morning, winning their second race in as many days, while the Orange straight four beat Dublin College in their first race to advance in the Visitors' Challenge Cup.

Syracuse's eight has reached the quarterfinals of the Temple Challenge Cup twice before in 2007 and 2018. Syracuse earned an open water victory over fellow central New York crew Colgate on Wednesday morning in the second round. Syracuse beat the Raiders by two lengths and will race again Friday against A.S.R. Nereus 'A' on Friday.

In the V4- race, Syracuse beat University College of Dublin by 2 and ¾ lengths to advance in the Visitors' Challenge Cup marking the first win for the Orange in the event in program history. Syracuse had previously competed in the Visitors' Challenge Cup in 2001 and 2019. The Orange advance to race Leander Club who defeated the Salisbury School (USA) by 1 and ¾ lengths.
